Details

The DS200TCPSG1AME from General Electric functions as a power supply card for the company’s Mark V turbine control system.  The MKV is a Speedtronic system.  Like other Speedtronic systems (Mark I through Mark VIe) the Mark V is designed to offer industrial-level protection and control to gas and steam turbine systems.

The DS200TCPSG1AME lives within the <R> core of the Mark V system.  It converts TCPD 125 VDC power originating in the <PD> core to the voltages needed by other components and applications within the Mark V system.   This includes RTD power supply voltages, servo valve current outputs, and microprocessor power supply voltages.

The DS200TCPSG1AME  includes a number of connectors including the J1 connector that brings 125 VDC power into the TCPS board, as well as the 2PL, JC, JP1, and JP2 connectors that are used to distribute power supply voltages to boards like the TCQC, TCCA, and TCDA. The DS200TCPSG1AME has no hardware or software configurations.

The DS200TCPSG1AME includes multiple fuses to protect components.  It also includes multiple heat sinks to dissipate heat from the board, resistor network arrays, TP test points, transformers, inductor coils, and several metal oxide varistors.   The board is factory drilled and has been marked with several codes and identifying marks.  It also carries the General Electric logo to assure authenticity.

The GE Power Supply DC Input Board DS200TCPSG1A contains three fuses, one 16-pin connector, and one 9-pin connector. It also contains multiple test points. When you suspect that the board has stopped performing as expected or has suddenly stopped working the first step in troubleshooting is to examine the three fuses. The fuses prevent damage to the board by shutting down the board if too much current is present in the board or if an irregularity has occurred in the current. Have on hand a supply of the fuses with the same rating in case the fuses blow.

They must be exactly the same rating because a different fuse might expose the board to an over-current condition and lead to damage. The three fuses protect three different circuits on the board from damage caused by too much electric power.

To install a replacement fuse the power to the drive must be turned off. The qualified servicer performing the replacement must have a knowledge of the drive and how to safely disengage the drive from power.

Before working on the board, the drive must be tested to verify that no power is present in the drive. Depending on how the board is installed and the accessibility of the board, the fuses can be replaced without removing the board. However, if you must remove the board, use a screwdriver to remove the four screws that secure the board in the metal board rack. One screw is inserted in each corner of the board.
